Abstract
In-depth interviews with 40 highly successful women in seven career fields in Canada point to the importance of relationships, role models, and intrinsic motivation as factors for success. This paper will explore the various personal and social factors which have been significant in females' correlates of success, leadership and women's personal fulfilment. Results from the study indicate a new model for career development based on a sense of agency, cooperation, and versatility that is uniquely female.
