Abstract
From the revisited stance of the nature-nurture controversy, the study investigated the relationship, if any, between the children nominated for the gifted education programme in Nigeria and the profession of their parents. It was found that the “elitist” label which the critics of the programme often attached to it was not upheld by the present study. It was concluded that parental professions did not solely explain the academic preparation and subsequent inclusion of the children in this study in the gifted education programme.
