Abstract
Gender differences in highly creative individuals need to be investigated. In two samples of Brazilian people with high levels of creativity, gender differences were investigated. First, 335 adults responded to a set of figural and verbal tests. A total of 64 individuals were identified using +1SD above the mean (30 women, 34 men) and 19 using +2SD (9 women, 10 men). A second sample of 711 adults was tested for their figural creativity. 96 participants had +1 SD above the mean (69 women, 27 men) and 24 had +2 SD above the mean (17 women, 7 men). There were no significant gender differences in total creativity scores between the groups in both samples for the two-creativity level based on the Mann-Whitney test. According to these findings, educators must encourage women to express their creativity to achieve in all careers to combat gender bias.
