Abstract
This article by the President of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC) was in part presented in his presidential address to the biennial WCGTC Vancouver conference in August 2009. Dr. Taisir Subhi Yamin discusses the growing interest in gifted educaton and outlines goals to ensure that there is a cadre of highly qualified and competent teachers for gifted programming. He emphasizes the “digital world” and its impact on organizations that support gifted education, and he discusses the work of the International Association of Educators for World Peace and its efforts for global awareness and understanding.
