Abstract
Debby Evans, founder of ‘Keys to Learning’, is presently involved in partnering with TREE (Training and Resources in Early Education) in an exciting and innovative curriculum design and training programme for the TREE- REACH RESEARCH PROJECT (School of Development, University of KwaZulu /Natal (KZN), Durban Campus. She was asked to devise a component for TREE's HIV/AIDS elective which specifically teaches thinking skills and problem-solving strategies, and to integrate this with their course ‘Supporting children and adults living with HIV/AIDS'. According to the Final Study ProtocohTREE-REACH Project, the main aim of the intervention will be to resource community Early Child Development (ECD) practitioners with the skills and contacts necessary to identify orphans and vulnerable children up to the age of 7 years in their environment, to train the practitioners to assess the children's needs, and to set up ongoing and sustainable support for the children.
