Abstract
Our Able Children Co-ordinator has audited provision for able children and has used the information gathered to identify an area for improvement in the school. The audit highlighted the fact that there was sufficient evidence for whole school challenge but little was known about in-lesson challenge for able pupils. The focus of intervention has been on providing challenging lessons for all children by selecting a model for teaching and learning which emphasises the use of thinking skills and allows children to ask and answer their own questions. The TASC Wheel Model was selected for this reason and after training given by Belle Wallace to our small school network, it was decided to dedicate a whole day to implementing the model with teachers, children and their parents. This article describes how our school implemented the use of the TASC Wheel.
