Abstract
A layered approach to differentiate curriculum is discussed as an example of accommodating a range of goals including core, differentiated, classic, individualized, theme and generalization. Each layer represents a specific goal. This article examines how the layered approach to differentiated curriculum provides educators options to acknowledge multiple goals that respond to the abilities, needs and interests of gifted students. The importance of inclusion of a classics layer in a differentiated curriculum is discussed and illustrated.
