This paper provides an overview of a pull-out enrichment project in Cheltenham targeted at academically able 9- to 10- year old (Year Five) children. The structure and curriculum of the project are detailed and the ways in which children have benefited from participation are discussed in the light of an evaluation of the programme, as are the drawbacks. The benefits of key aspects of the project are highlighted for schools that might be interested in setting up similar programmes.
