Myths seldom die, and they even remain alive with some of the researchers in gifted education. Hany (2001) says that acceleration through grade skipping is an option only for those children whose development is accelerated in all areas, who are generally gifted and who are “socially stable”. He adds that grade skipping puts all the responsibility for support onto the parents and ensures six months of stress for the family. The following article explores this issue.
