Abstract
Many primative peoples have had teeth free from dental decay and have kept them for a lifetime. They had well formed dental arches and, consequently, were free from what we recognise as orthodontic problems. However, as such people changed their diets (largely by the consumption of white flour and sugar) so they experienced dental decay, often on a considerable scale.
Many children whose parents have changed their diet for as little as ten years have serious orthodontic problems. They have crowded teeth and malaligned jaws and are more prone to dental caries.
