Abstract
The central goal of this study was to better understand and quantify how residents of villages around Patancheru a massive industrial belt of Secunderabad city held attitude towards and perceive the quality of environment that constitute their neighbourhood. In addition, the research explored how occupation influences this perception. About 652 heads of the households from surrounding villages responded to a questionnaire/interview schedule. Results indicate that occupation was found to be influencing their attitude towards environment. Occupation was also found to be influencing their concern for quality environment. Lastly, the correlational analysis reveals that increase in the attitude towards the environment positively and significantly increased the concern for quality environment. Thus, the implications were drawn intended to help the pollution control and environmental councils involved in education, outreach and planning.
