Abstract
Despite the multinational operations of Diamond Star Company, Bombay, Manilal Shah, the owner-manager, is wondering whether he should recruit professionals for his organization. He interviews Amit Singh, a management graduate and debates whether he is worth his price in terms of his commitment and the benefits he would bring for his company.
The case raises interesting questions such as: Should Shah recruit professionals? What does professionalization mean? How can Shah ensure the commitment of professionals to his organization? What can a professional expect from his job in Diamond Star Company?
