Abstract
Metaphors are commonly used because of their effectiveness in conveying ideas. However, in research their use is limited because of their failure to convey the reality fully.
In his book titled Images of Organization (Beverly Hills: Sage Publications, 1986), Professor Gareth Morgan extends the concept of metapltorizing to organizations and terms the new concepts arising from it as “imaginizing.” Some of the metaphors he describes are: organization as a machine, organization as a living system, organization as psychic prison, and organization as instruments of domination. Vikalpa publishes an indepth review of this book by Professor Pradip N Khandwalla.
