Abstract
The pioneering innovative (PI) mode of management was identified from corporate policies data supplied by the top managements of 75 Indian organizations. It was found to be used by a wide variety of organizations. The paper presents the determinants and organizational consequences of the PI mode of management. Implications of the findings for Indian management, for management research and management education, and for organizational design and development are explored.
