Abstract
An empirical test of Herzberg's two factor theory was carried out on three levels of workers, using the questionnaire method. Each employee was administered a questionnaire consisting of seven motivator and nine hygiene factors. The results partially supported the Herzberg theory. Satisfaction and dissatisfaction were found to be unipolar dimensions. Both motivators and hygienes influenced the feelings of satisfaction and dissatisfaction. The results also showed that there was a significant difference between low level blue-collar workers and low level white-collar workers on satisfaction, and a non-significant difference between high level bluecollar workers and low level white-collar workers.
