Abstract
Several issues and dilemmas confront the education systems in India. Official and non-official views represent a wide spectrum of opinions with hardly any impact on the systems. The author reviews three books on the subject under five aspects: 1) objectives of education; 2) course content; 3) structure of the education systems; 4) decision-making process; and 5) motivation.
