Abstract
How should systems for organizations be designed? Should they take into account the culture of the organization and the society or not? lshwar Dayal (1976) had argued that systems should be designed to suit the culture. In this note, Professor Pareek contends that designing various systems in the organization to suit the culture would leave the organization where it is since change can be very effectively introduced through work organizations. After listing the steps to be taken and the pitfalls likely to be encountered while introducing a proactive strategy, the author stresses the importance of careful planning.
