Abstract
Any developing economy needs an accurate estimate of the trained manpower requirement for planning the education system to meet these requirements. Reviewing three recent publications on this crucial problem which is engaging the attention of Indian planners, Bharat Jhunjhunwalla stresses that the problem has both cultural and political dimensions and that the Indian planners should become aware of the structural parameters determining the developmental process.
