Abstract
A week's residency by the Bournemouth Sinfonietta in Romania is described: the extensive preparatory work; the collaboration with a British charity, ‘Musika in Romania’, which was essential for the project's success; the concerts, and the visits to schools, an orphanage and an assessment centre for street children across Bucharest and two other centres; the effect on the orchestra's members; and plans to follow up the project and maintain the Bournemouth/Romania link.
