Abstract
This article explores the effects that complexity theory could have on the development of contemporary psychology. It specifically identifies the definition of the object of study, the main descriptors — the matter of mutually exclusive dichotomies — the method of knowing — the relationship between the objective and the subjective — and, finally, the problem of determinations. In all these dimensions, a brief discussion is given on the changes taking place in contemporary psychology, and on how complexity theory can help us systematize and clarify the relationship between the objective and the subjective.
