The introduction and four reports presented here focus on the areas of Seoul, Korea; Surabaya, Indonesia; Bangkok, Thailand; and Manila, Philippines. These papers delineate some of the correlates of migration and the subsequent adjustment of migrants which are reflective of peculiarly local conditions. Analyses of the data collected in the urban centers identify common factors affecting the process of migrant adjustment.*
