Abstract
The factors conditioning immigration to the United Kingdom are analyzed in this article with the view to understand British immigration policy. The volume and place of origin of immigrants, the attitudes held toward immigrants by the British people, the legal and administrative framework placed around immigration, the emigration of highly skilled people from the United Kingdom in more recent years, all these aspects—the author shows—have contributed to the formulation of past governmental decisions and are likely to determine the volume and quality of future British immigration.
Les facteurs qui déterminent l'immigration à la Grande-Bretagne sont analysés dans cet article en vue de comprendre la politique Britannique d'immigration. Le volume et le pays d'origine des immigrants, l'attitude du peuple Anglais à l'égard des immigrants, la structure legale et administrative élevée autour de l'immigration, le “brain-drain” de la Grande-Bretagne pendant les dernières années, tous ces aspects, — l'auteur fait remarquer, — ont contribué à la formulation des decisions passées du gouvernement et il est probable qu'elles détermineront aussie le volume et la qualité de la future immigration Britannique.
Este artículo analiza los factores que condicionan la inmigración en Gran Bretaña tratando de entender la política inglesa en lo que respecta a inmigración. El autor hace notar cómo el número y lugar de origen de los inmigrantes, las actitudes del pueblo inglés hacia aquellos, las condiciones legales y administrativas impuestas a los mismos, e incluso la emigración durante los últimos años de personal altamente especializado del Reino Unido, todos estos factores han influido en las decisiones gubernamentales y probablemente determinarán la cantidad y cualidad de los futuros inmigrantes a la Gran Bretaña.
Die Faktoren, die die Immigration ins Britische Königsreich bedingen, werden in diesem Artikel analysiert mit der Absicht, die Britische Immigrationspolitik verständlich zu machen. Der zahlenmässige Umfang und der Ort der Herkunft der Immigranten, die innere Einstellung, die von der Britischen Bevölkerung eingenommen wird gegenüber den Einwanderern, der gesetzliche und verwaltungsmässige Rahmen, der um die Einwanderung gelegt wird, die Auswanderung von hochqualifizierten Facharbeitern aus dem Britischen Königsreich in jüngerer Zeit, alle diese Aspekte, so führt der Verfasser aus, haben zu den vergangenen Regierungsentscheidungen beigetragen und werden wahrscheinlich den Umfang und die Qualität der künftigen Britischen Einwanderung bestimmen.
