Abstract
Twenty-four confirmed cases of acute epiglottitis in children are reviewed. Peak incidence occurred in the months of April and May. Referring physicians correctly diagnosed acute epiglottitis in 61% of cases. Respiratory distress in 24 patients (100%), stridor in 22 patients (92%), and fever in 22 patients (92%) were the most frequently encountered symptoms.
