Abstract
Program Description:
This miniseminar is presented by select members of the AAO-HNS Task Force on Robotic Surgery for the purpose of defining the current standards for integrating robotic surgery into a clinical practice. The program is designed to inform the general AAO-HNS membership of: 1) The pathway to gain training in robotic surgery; 2) The ethics of integrating new robotic technologies into clinical practice; 3) The robotic surgical learning curve; and 4) The nuts and bolts of starting a robotic surgical practice. At the completion of the panel presentations, time will be set aside to encourage questions from the audience.
Educational Objectives:
1) Describe the training pathway for gaining competence in robotic surgery. 2) Evaluate the ethical concerns of introducing new robotic technologies into a clinical practice. 3) Recognize the framework for initiating a robotic surgery program.
