Abstract
The literature of sport is a vast uncharted territory, yet it is one in which we all live; it is a part of a society pervaded by the awareness, the values, and the spirit of sports. That our literature accurately reflects such involvement is a matter largely ignored by literary critics but largely taken for granted by writers and readers.
