School counselors require leadership. Leaders of school counselors are challenged to provide activities that result in an effective guidance program, cohesive and productive school counselor teams, and climates that foster excellence in professionalism. While principals are the ultimate leaders of the school, many of the tasks associated with the leadership responsibilities described here are best carried out by a guidance department head.
