There are limitations to many of the technologies that schools now use. Use of computer software is limited to what is physically present in the school. Many "broadcast" distance learning technologies require stu dents to be available at the time of the broadcast. Cable and televi sion-based programming has similar scheduling constraints and is not customized to the needs of a particular school, let alone the needs of a particular student. What can be done?
