Violence in Public Schools: HEW's Safe School Study

Abstract

Released in mid- January by the De partment of Health, Education, and Wel fare's National Insti tute of Education, the Safe School Study was requested by Congress in legisla tion passed in 1974. It is this Study to which Congress and HEW look to settle, once and for all, ques tions about the nature and extent of school- based crime and vio lence occurring throughout the coun try.
