Abstract
Like certain other hard-pressed U.S. communi ties, Palo Alto has started bringing police offi cers into the schools. But there is a difference. In Palo Alto the police are there to teach, not to intimidate. Officer Oblander believes the police are successful in teaching understanding of the role of the police in society and respect for the individual policeman.
