Abstract
For an administrator to restrict a teacher's right of dress and appearance, he must first show that curtailment is necessitated by some greater in terest—preservation of law and order, for ex ample. In recent court cases, this has proven difficult. Mr. Hudgins suggests that an admin istrator can stay out of court by recognizing that his school will inevitably reflect changing atti tudes, social behavior, and styles of dress and appearance.
