Abstract
"The subject is taught by three teachers, two white and one black, who are skilled in the three major disciplines of the course: Afro- American history, Afro-American literature, and Afro-American art, music, and dance. Each area of study is designed to complement and rein force the others. Consequently, a typical unit may involve the reading and discussion of historical documents, the interpretation of a related poem, and the enjoyment of a corre lated folk song, spiritual, or contemporary black musical composition."
