Abstract
Most of the summer activities reported on in the articles that follow are discussed out of context; that is to say, each of these activities is but one part of a much more extensive pro gram that a community and its schools carried on for their young people. But the total com munity effort does deserve attention, and the next two papers illustrate the kind of setting in which most of the reported activities oper ated. First, we reproduce the memorandum distributed last spring by the Richmond, Vir ginia, public schools.
