Abstract
This and the following article, "Supply of and Demand for Engineers," describe the urgent need for trained personnel in critical areas in our nation. We appeal to all principals, coun selors, and teachers of secondary schools to influence and en courage promising boys and girls to be interested in the fields of teaching, nursing, medicine, science, and engineering. The shortages are so great now and will continue so for the next few years that all competent and qualified youth will find unusual life opportunities in these professional areas and the further privilege of rewarding service.—The Editor.
