Abstract
Girls and young women have made great progress in increasing their performance and participation in science and technology studies in recent years. This article discusses that progress and remaining roadblocks. It describes strategies to continue promoting science and technology studies among female students to ensure a technologically prepared workforce. Also, it summarizes the secondary school section of a national report, Balancing the Equation: Where Are Women and Girls in Science, Engineering and Technology? (2001), and provides recommendations and resources.
