A New High School Design Focused on Student Performance: Part I

Abstract

Major changes are needed in high school classrooms in terms of what is taught, how it is taught, and how it is assessed, but these changes cannot be made classroom by classroom. They require major changes in the school as a whole—in its leadership, management, and organiza tion ; in its climate, ethos, and priorities; in the way it uses the money and human resources available to it; in the things it values and its aspirations for its students.
