Sage was made aware of a PubPeer post discussing the possible anomalies in the figures of this article.
The concerns raised by the readers were as follows:
In Figure 4, β-actin panel lanes 11 and 13 appear to be highly similar. In Figure 5, Bax panel lanes 10, 12-14 appear to be highly similar.
In Figure 5, Bcl-2 panel lanes 5, 7 and 6, 8 appear highly similar. The lanes 12, 14 appear highly similar.
In Figure 5, the β-actin panel lanes 6, 11, 13 appear highly similar.
The authors were unable to provide raw images underlying these figures, due to length of time passed since the research and lack of data retention policies at their institution.
Due to the unexplained anomalies in the figures of this research, that call into question the overall integrity of the research, the Journal Editor retracts this article.
The authors did not respond when notified of the decision to retract.
