Abstract
Scientific and technological relations between the GDR and developing countries occupy an important position in their overall relations. The GDR considers the establishment and strengthening of scientific and technological relations with developing countries as a contribution to supporting the anti-imperialist struggle and to overcoming economic and social problems in the interest of the masses and as a factor to strengthen their own economic potentials. Essential basic principles of these relations are as follows: the respect of sovereignty of states, and full equality of all partners and the development of relations for mutual benefit. In this context, the GDR supports the establishment of an indigenous material and technological base in developing countries on the basis of available resources, industrialization, the development of agriculture, and the efficient training of appropriate national cadres.
