Abstract
Investigated were the relationships between the extent of use of human and documentary sources and certain organisational and source-exposure characteristics of senior civil servants in Nigerian ministries It was found that gener ally, source use was invariant to the civil servants' level or status. It was also established that the use of some external documentary sources was inversely related to civil servants' level of experience; and that the use of consultancy reports. newspapers/magazines and conference/workshop papers was directly related to the extent of civil servant's exposure to inter-ministerial meetings, conferences/ workshops, and courses of study, respectively.
