This first national study of informatics in Colombia presents the contemporary situation and recommendations for the future. Also, this is the first comprehensive model for a single country in all of Latin America involving both business and higher education. The results of a national survey that evaluated the current status of the Colombian information society are presented. A paradigm of development is recom mended by the authors that might be replicated for other developing countries
