Electronic bulletin boards for professional and re search communication are becoming increasingly popular The results of a comparison of three such bulletin boards, available via JANET, are presented here They indicate that, though the overall layout and operation of these boards is acceptable. a range of factors relating to user needs must be taken into account if a fully acceptable bulletin board is to be designed.
