Abstract
The development of agriculture, and the reform of the rural economy in China in the last decade has brought about great changes, which have raised increased demand for information and highlighted the madequate performance of existing agricultural library and information systems. An effec tive system calls for systematic allocation of information re sources. and efficient information dissemination, which implies sound information policies to ensure cooperation, resource sharing and networking among libraries and information services. A critical overview of China's agricultural library and information systems is given, with particular emphasis on the future importance of networking.
