This current study of searches in a chemical company covers the period 1988-1989, and is a follow-up to an earlier statistical analysis of searches in the same company for the period 1982-1987. The additional complications in conducting this second study are detailed, and an assessment is made of their influence on the results of the study. Having admitted that the economic cost is not the sole factor to be taken into account, the figures and proportions are analysed and conclu sions are drawn.
