Public policies on broadcasting which used to work within a regulatory environment have now to readjust their traditional way of regulating broadcasting and, concurrently. to accom modate the deregulation of their traditional broadcasting sys tems. This article attempts to describe and examine the con cept of public service broadcasting, its Justifications and the deregulatory trends on the European Continent.
