Abstract
Online information systems are becoming increasingly sophisticated and entering the realm of very large databases. At the same time, the range of services is increasing and bibliographical hosts are growing, merging and expanding into non-bibliographical areas. Such changes inevitably bring prob lems for users. One area in which hosts have developed with particular rapidity is the airline industry. This article outlines the ways in which the major airline systems operate, sum marizes the issues raised by them and points to possible similar problems which could arise with bibliographical systems as they develop.
