Abstract
CAB is the principal world information service for agri cultural scientists, including related sciences, and is financed and administered by Commonwealth Governments through an Executive Council on which each is equally represented. The services provided are identification, biological control and the issue of abstract journals and other publications covering the world literature. All are U.K. based except bio- control which operates from headquarters in Trinidad and centres in India, Pakistan, Kenya, Ghana, Switzerland and the U.K. Three Institutes - Entomology, Mycology and Helminthology - provide identification services respectively for insects, fungi, and animal helminths and plant nematodes, as well as publishing journals, and afford limited training and post-graduate facilities. Since 1973, journals have been printed by computer and the information, stored on mag netic tapes, is available online in California, Rome and Cologne. A computer-based Data Entry System is being intro duced in each Institute and Bureau and is expected to be operational by March 1982.
