Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between work experience and job performance of dietary managers (n = 88). A significant positive relationship was found between quality of work experience and examination scores. The interaction of quality of work experience and capacity to learn also had a significant positive relationship to examination scores. When supervisor ratings of dietary managers'performance were used as the dependent variable, there was a significant positive relationship with quality of work experience. These findings indicate that quality of work experience scores may be predictive of performance and have implications for credentialing programs as well as for self-assessment, employee selection, performance appraisal, and needs assessment for the planning and development of educational programs.
