Abstract
Measures of children's social skills must begin to address several difficult issues as the development of our assessment methodologies proceeds. Four issues are discussed in this paper 1) criteria used to identify meaningful social skills, 2) content tapped by specific behavioral measures, 3) the degree to which situational factors are included in measurement procedures and devices, and 4) the applicability of traditional measures in the assessment of individual children. The review also considers future directions for research technology in the area.
