Abstract
When the federal court ordered Buffalo to desegregate, the school system took its mandate to be a curriculum and instruction challenge of the highest order. The result, Buffalo's highly successful Early Childhood Centers, is described and evaluated in this article in terms of student achievement, parental involvement, and racial balancing.
