Abstract
In this article, newspaper reviews of the film, “The Blind Side,” are examined in the mainstream, African American, and alternative press. We select and code all comments in those reviews about the two protagonists, one white and one black. Our analysis revealed different degrees of favorableness and negativity about the protagonists, in the three types of American newspaper media. Our findings reveal that all three types of newspapers favor classifying the white heroine in greater positive terms than the African American character.
