Abstract
Academic study of business and public policy (BAPP) is intimately linked with actual public policy development and with changing corporate structures and practices. BAPP includes such techniques and activities as environmental analysis, issues management, and public affairs. This article characterizes the current content and direction of the BAPP field and describes five areas presenting critical challenges for both analysts and practitioners. These are: (a) corporate governance, (b) organizational ethics, (c) the political influence of business, (d) the integration of BAPP analysis with strategic management, and (e) multinational business-society relationships.
